New Hampshire Health Insurance

State Rankings

New Hampshire is a very healthy state. Second most healthy in the United States, to be exact. It ranks highly in both overall healthcare determinants and healthcare outcomes, indicating that New Hampshire has been healthy for a long time and will continue to be so into the future. Nearly all healthcare- related statistics about New Hampshire are positive. The smoking rate has decreased almost 10% in the past decade, and percentage of children in poverty decreased to 6.2%, the lowest in the country. Prenatal care is also second highest in the nation, as is child immunization coverage. As a result, New Hampshire residents enjoy the lowest rate of infant mortality in the country and the lowest rate of premature death, as well as low instances of cardiovascular deaths. The state has room to improve in terms of diabetes and obesity rates, but so does every other state, so this is hardly a black mark on New Hampshire's health record. Health insurance in New Hampshire is still a very good investment, and affordable as well.

New Hampshire Health Insurance

Interestingly, the state of New Hampshire has accomplished such tremendous statistical measures without overspending for public health care. The state is only 34th in the nation in public health funding, $10.3 million in total, which could be attributed to a number of factors. The current unemployment rate is one of the lowest in the country, which may help explain why only 7% of residents are uninsured and another 7% on Medicare, less than half of the national state average. On the whole, though, New Hampshire residents are very healthy and have succeeded in successfully lowering many of its community and environmental health factors. New Hampshire healthcare has several plans that are highly rated by the NCQA:
