Colorado's Online Health Insurance Marketplace

Connect For Health Colorado, legally known as the Colorado Health Benefit Exchange, is the Colorado state health insurance exchange established through the Affordable Care Act (ACA).  This online marketplace will allow health insurance shoppers in Colorado to not only make side-by-side comparisons of health insurers offering qualified health plans but also to determine eligibility for income based premium subsidies.

The Mission of Connect For Health Colorado is to improve the access, affordability, and health plan choice for individuals and small businesses shopping for insurance coverage within the state of Colorado.

Participating Colorado Health Plans

For calendar year 2014, ten health insurers plan to offer individual and family health plans in the marketplace, and six to small businesses.  The insurers offering individual health plans include (in alphabetical order):

  • Cigna
  • Colorado Choice
  • Colorado Health Insurance Cooperative
  • Denver Health
  • HMO Colorado (Anthem)
  • Humana
  • Kaiser Permanente

  • Rocky Mountain HMO

Colorado Health Insurance Rates

Health plans on the Connect For Health Colorado platform will fit into one of the four "metal levels" -- Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum --  that define the level of benefits that a particular health plan provides.  For example under a bronze plan the insurer covers 60% of the healthcare costs will be paid for by insurer with the remaining 40% the responsibility of the customer.  Similarly, platinum plans offer the richest benefits, with the insurer picking up 90% of the healthcare expense.

Monthly Premiums for Bronze Plans Range From:  $186.20  to $361.45

Monthly Premiums for Silver Plans Range From: $245.16 to $459.73

Monthly Premiums for Gold Plans Range From $285.58 to $533.51

Monthly Premiums for Platinum Plans Range From $321.96 to $531.87

In addition, there is a catastrophic plan option available to individuals under age 30 or those who meet certain financial eligibility requirements.  The monthly premiums for this plan* range from $138.62 to $267.36

* For a 40yr old Non Smoker in Denver Region

* For a 27 yr old in Denver Region
