Group Health Incorporated (GHI)
GHI (Group Health Incorporated) was
established in 1937 as Group Health Association of New
York, a small health cooperative with a handful of
subscribers and premiums of less than $2,000. Over the
years, Group Health Association of New York was
successively called Cooperative Health Association of New
York, Group Health Cooperative, Group Health Insurance
and, since 1971, Group Health Incorporated.
GHI has pioneered some of the most popular and
affordable health insurance models in use today, and
continually works to raise public awareness of important
health issues.
After 66 years, GHI has grown into the largest statewide
not-for-profit health insurance corporation, offering a
full range of medical, hospital,
dental, mental health,
vision, and prescription drug coverages. GHI currently
provides services for more than 2.5 million individuals.
