Cover Florida
The Cover Florida Health Care Access Program was created out of the 2008 Legislative session in Florida. The program provides affordable health insurance options to nearly 4 million Florida residents who would otherwise be uninsured.
Six of Florida's top health insurance companies were selected to provide health insurance plans as part of the Cover Florida Program including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, and United Health Care which are available in all 67 Florida counties.
To be eligible for Cover Florida, applicants must: 1) reside in Florida 2) be between the ages of 19 - 64 and 3) be uninsured for at least the previous 6 months. Other circumstances which would qualify for the program include 1) loss of a job that included employer-sponsored coverage 2) loss of COBRA benefits or 3) death or divorce from spouse which provided health insurance coverage
