Blue4U is the latest health plan offered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City. Blue KC is encouraging consumers to reevaluate their current health insurance plans and see how they compare to Blue4U. Blue KC asserts that switching plans can save individuals as much as $300 per year.

Blue4U is a preferred provider organization plan offered to individuals under the age of 65. The plan provides members with low monthly premiums, brand name prescription drug coverage and an optional two year rate guarantee. Blue4U members are allowed five visits to the doctor's office per year at a cost of $40 per visit, as well as one eye exam per year for $20.

The Blue4U plan is intended to fit into the new health care reform environment with an application process that can be completed entirely online. Blue4U was designed to appeal to men and women in their 20s and 30s who typically go uninsured due to the costs. A male between the ages of 19 and 29 can expect to pay about $56 per month, while a female between 19 and 39 would have an average premium of about $69 per month.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City has been providing individuals and families with health care benefits since 1938 and now covers almost one million members. Blue KC was the first in the United States to receive Wellness & Health Promotion (WHP) Accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).
