California Health Insurance for Children
The California Healthy Families Program is a low cost health insurance program that provides health insurance coverage, (as well as dental and vision coverage) to children who do not have insurance today and do not qualify for Medi-Cal.
The Healthy Families Program offers comprehensive health care, dental and vision coverage through various insurance plans. The benefits in all Healthy Families’ plans are similar. However, they may be administered differently.
Parents, step-parents, foster parents, legal guardians, or other caretaker relatives may apply for a Healthy Families health insurance plan for a child living in their home. Only the parents’ income will be considered with regard to eligibility in the program.
If you are a legal guardian, stepparent, foster parent or caretaker relative who lives with a child, your income will not be used to qualify the child for California Healthy Families.
