Happy 50th Birthday President Obama

President Obama is setting aside some time today and not thinking about health insurance reform or budget cuts while he celebrates his big fiftieth birthday with friends and family.  The President will be completing some Commander in Chief duties throughout the day but plans on taking some time off with a private party at the White House this evening according to the article on the Voice of America website.  After a stressful few weeks battling out the national debt issue, he deserves some time off to celebrate a huge milestone.

His party will be spent with close friends and family at the White House Rose Garden later today.  Obama and family then plan on spending the weekend at the Camp David Presidential Retreat.  He also had a birthday celebration coupled with a fundraiser in his hometown of Chicago where he did discuss some politics, including the economy.  He admitted there’s still a lot of work to do, but that they have made big strides in the last two years.

With the President signing the deal to cut government spending and increase the debt ceiling, he’s experienced an up and down week.  He mentioned at the fundraiser that Washington does not have time to play partisan games and something needed to get accomplished.  The first round of cuts should not affect Medicare or Social Security, but they may feel cuts down the road.  Washington has been spending beyond their means for many years, and through strict budget cuts they hope to reign in some of the costs.  Hopefully getting this taken care of just days before his big birthday will help him enjoy the day that much more.  With him having one of the toughest jobs in the world, you know he needs some down time to celebrate his life with his friends and family on this special occasion regardless of political views.  Happy birthday President Obama!
