Student Health Insurance Quote: Facing Changes

The changes to student health insurance continues to be a hot topic in US news as more and more young adults and parents are educated on how the changes benefit them.  The article “Keep Your Kids Insured” by MP McQueen on The Wall Street Journal’s website gives some details on the new federal health-care provision which took affect last month.

Since adult dependents can remain on their parents’ group or individual health insurance plans until their 26th birthday, many students are foregoing health insurance plans offered by their schools and sticking with their parents’ plan.  Many parents are wondering if this is the best option for their dependents and continue to seek the cheapest way possible to ensure their children are taken care of through receiving a student health insurance quote from various companies.

Approximately 30% of adults ages 19 to 29 are currently uninsured which is scary to imagine.  This new law is hoping to decrease this number and get more young adults covered properly.  Some states such as New Jersey and New Mexico already had similar laws in place to help their young adult residents.  The age limits and requirements varied but the goal was the same overall.  Government wants to get more Americans insured and with young people having a high rate of uninsured, it’s a very good place to start.
