Health Care Reform Myths

There has been an exorbitant amount of information online about health care reform and what it entails.  So much information is not always a good thing because many Americans are confused.  The article “Fighting the Myths About Health Care Reform With Facts” by Robert Joiner on STLBeacon.org addresses three of the major myths about health care reform currently out there confusing consumers.

The first myth discussed is the claim that health care reform would cause higher taxes and job losses.  In fact, the law includes the largest middle class tax cut for health care in the history of America.  Good news for those concerned about higher taxes.

The second myth is the argument that the new law would force people to purchase health insurance that they could not afford.  In actuality, the new law will offer tax credits to those who cannot afford health insurance in addition to hardship waivers for those still struggling to afford health insurance.

The final myth discussed is the concern that Medicare is going to be cut with the implementation of the new law.  No Medicare benefits are to be cut due to the new health care reform.  There are actually new benefits that will be included, including free preventative care and an annual wellness visit.  Hopefully this information clears up some questions that are out there about the new health care reform.
