According to the Blue Cross Blue Shield website, BCBS of Delaware has announced an affiliation agreement with Highmark Inc.  This partnership plans to bring new products and services to the state of Delaware and enhance the cost-effectiveness of Blue Cross and Highmark.

This is positive news for Delaware health insurance as it creates better products for residents to choose from.  Highmark Inc is a Pennsylvania based company which will position BCBSD to stay a strong local leader in the health care market.  This partnership is the culmination of a 4 year corporate strategic planning process between both companies.

The President and CEO of BCBSD, Timothy J. Constantine, recognizes that it’s becoming harder and harder for small, independent health plans to remain competitive and this new affiliation will allow BCBSD to remain non-profit, improve operations, maintain financial stability, and keep their high level of customer service, which is extremely important to both companies.
