Beginning 9/1/2010, health insurance companies in Ohio who decline applicants due to pre-existing conditions are required to provide information about the Ohio high-risk pool and the open enrollment program.
Since the coverage became available on 9/1 about 400 people have enrolled in the program, and federal subsidies will allow for about 5,000 to be covered.
The Program runs through 2014, when state health insurance exchanges set forth by the sweeping health insurance reform become a reality.
