Recently, a Federal judge has approved parts of a lawsuit the state of Louisiana is bringing upon President Obama’s health care reform. The lawsuit was filed by the state of Louisiana as well as 19 other states. They are challenging the health care reform citing it as “unconstitutional” and concerned over the impact is will have over Louisiana health insurance.
The disagreement stems from sections of the new law that will require everyone to have health insurance or face tax penalties. In addition, they do not agree on whether or not states should pay additional Medicaid costs currently not covered by the Federal government.
According to the article “Louisiana Takes Obama Health Plan to Court” found on KTBS.com, the lawsuit may very well wind up in front of the US Supreme Court in the future. US District Judge Robert Vinson did not clarify which parts of the lawsuit would not make it to the trial.
