In Danville, they are considering authorizing an agreement for voluntary dental insurance and voluntary vision insurance for current city employees and retirees.  According to Risk Manager Kathy Courson, the success of the dental plan prompted many workers to inquire about a vision plan to help with vision insurance quotes in their area.

The city will provide the means for employees to get coverage on an individual basis.  The employee or retiree will ultimately be responsible for the full monthly premium.  The 1 year contract for the voluntary dental insurance would be through The Guardian Dental Insurance Group starting October 1st, and the 2 year vision agreement would be with VSP, starting on October 1st as well.  The Danville City Council will meet this month to discuss the details even further.
