According to the Geisinger Health Plan website, Geisinger Health System now has a state of the art skin resurfacing treatment which helps to smooth away scars and wrinkles which are caused by age, sun exposure, acne, trauma or surgery.
This new laser technology is called fractional resurfacing and it’s changing the way people can get their face resurfaced. This type of technology covers the treatment area with closely spaced dots making it easier to preserve healthy, normal skin. Dr. Mary Jacobs, a dermatologist at Geisinger Scenery Park, State College, says this procedure results in a significantly improved appearance of the skin with wrinkles and scars diminished and skin color more even.
Dr. Jacobs also states that the preservation of healthy skin between the treatment areas causes a much faster healing process. Redness takes some time to go down and the best results may be achieved through three to five sessions over a time frame of several months. This is a great new treatment available to many Geisinger Health Insurance members.
