PPO Health Insurance in California

PPO Health Insurance in California has recently been rated by The California Office of the Patient Advocate on their website.  They used the star rating system with four stars being Excellent, three being good, two being fair, and one star means poor.

In the 2010 Edition of the PPO Ratings At-A-Glance no company received 4 stars in the meeting of national standards of care.  Aetna PPO received 3 stars, Anthem Blue Cross PPO received 2, Blue Shield of California/Blue Shield Life PPO did not report, CIGNA PPO got 3 stars, Health Net of California PPO also received 3, and United Healthcare of California received 2.

If the health insurance company you were looking for is not listed, it could be because of one of many reasons.  Over 80% of all California residents who are PPO enrollees are members of the 5 PPO plans on this report so they are by far the largest plans in the state.  Smaller PPOs often do not publicly report their quality results so will not show up on a report such as this.

These types of ranking reports are extremely useful as you shop for a PPO insurance quote.  Health insurance rankings can make doing your homework a little easier.
