Humana Insurance Quotes for Young Adults

According to the article “Three Insurers Won’t Drop Adult Children on Parents’ Policies” by Duke Helfand on latimes.com, WellPoint, Humana One, and UnitedHealthCare are extending health insurance coverage until the new health care reform bill kicks in.

Under current circumstances, many college students graduating from college lose their health insurance protection through their parents and the must go out on their own.  The new health care reform requires that insurance companies extend this coverage to alleviate the stress of young adults finding their own coverage.  This bill doesn’t take effect until September 23rd, but these companies are offering it sooner.

All three companies will be including provisions which will allow young adults to stay under their parents’ health care plans until they are 26 years old.  Many other health insurers are expected to follow suit soon and extend the coverage sooner than the bill takes effect.  This is great news for recent graduates who would otherwise be scrambling to get health insurance coverage while they look for a job.  With new graduates having a harder time finding work, this extension will prove extremely valuable. If you haven’t already, getting Humana insurance quotes to ensure your young adult is covered is a good idea.
