Florida health insurance has been ranked by JD Power’s 2010 Health Plan Ratings report recently released.  There was a tie between two health insurance companies, CIGNA and UnitedHealthcare.  The other companies reviewed in the report on JD Power’s website were Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, and Humana.

The tie between CIGNA and UnitedHealthcare health insurance brought almost identical ratings.  They both received the highest ranking in all categories except one.  They received the second highest ranking in one category.  CIGNA ranked better than most in provider choice which measures how health plan members rate the selection of doctors for both primary and specialty care doctors, the amount of hospitals in the area, and the ease of using pharmacies with the plan.

UnitedHealthcare ranked better than most in information and communication which includes a score based on how health plan members rate how useful provided information is, the ease of understanding provided information, and how quickly notifications in changes to plan services and benefits.  When shopping for major medical insurance quotes in Florida it’s a good idea to have ranking reports such as JD Power’s handy so you know how insurers stack up against each other.  Although price is very important, customer service and benefits offered also make or break a health insurance policy.
