Massachusetts Health Insurance Blackout

According to the article “The Massachusetts Insurance Blackout” found on online.wsj.com, it’s recently become next to impossible for individuals and small businesses to purchase health care protection after Governor Deval Patrick put a price control on health insurance premiums.

There is a possibility that with the new health care bill put through by the Obama administration, this type of tough health insurance will be coming to markets across the nation.  The health care bills claims to be beneficial for small businesses as well as individuals, but only time will tell for sure.

The small group market under Massachusetts health insurance, which serves about 800,000 residents shut down after the Governor started his re-election campaign and rejected approximately 90% of the health insurance rate increases the state’s insurance companies had asked state regulators to approve.  Health insurance quotes have been steadily increasing and are becoming more and more unaffordable for many residents which is putting more strain on the economy.
