Ideas for Health Care Reform

Former Governor Romney’s past efforts for health care reform in Massachusetts a couple years back have provided him with a broader health care background than many other candidates.

Romney's health care proposal bears both similarities
and differences to some of the most important features of the Massachusetts reform

Romney’s proposal would:
 
Provide states with incentives to revise health insurance regulations to help reduce the cost of
health insurance coverage.

Facilitate the growth of the private market.

Oppose government mandates, including mandates requiring people to buy health insurance coverage or amandate requiring employers to provide it.

Use tax breaks and subsidies and streamline regulations to make health insurance more affordable.

Promote Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and tax deductibility for all qualified medical expenses.

Eliminate the HSA high deductible requirement.
